Portrait in Type

 

    For the following portrait in type I choose to present the famous artist, Romeo Santos, one of the greats regarding the bachata genre. To match his aesthetic or trend I selected a font which is heavy in its stroke and consist of various curves. They always call him the "king of Bachata" so I selected a font that is both elegant and pleasing to the naked eye. For the jacket for which he is wearing, I used letters such as capital R and lowercase x as well as capital V. I combine a string of R's either being orientated or in a normal state upon each other. This was mostly used around the perimeter of the jacket, the collar and stitching. To add a interesting touch I added V that are sitting upon each others serifs causing a unique and amusing design.In addition fill in excessive amount of white space I placed x's along the middle of the column.For the necklace I used symbols such as | and * thus forming a distinct necklace causing contrast upon the white space. For the hair I stacked a vast amount of w to create his spiky hair texture, while for the other facial features I used a combination of symbols and letters such as C.Throughout this assignment I experienced both pros and cons.However I believe the cons outweighs the pros as I experienced various difficulties during the process.
